OHA ANNOUNCES 2015-16 JUNIOR B PLAYER OF THE YEAR

CAMBRIDGE, ON – The Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) is pleased to announce 2015-2016 Players of the Year as selected by the OHA Awards Committee.

Carson Brookshaw (St. Thomas Stars)    

As a 18-year-old native of Grand Bend, Ontario, Carson Brookshaw proved instrumental this year for the GOJHL Western Conference St. Thomas Stars. Scoring 35 goals and adding 37 assists in 50 games, Brookshaw led his club in regular season points. The Assistant Captain of the Stars was named the CHOK Western Conference Player of the year, the St. Thomas Stars Fan Favorite Award, the Kevin McIntosh Award as the Western Conference Best Defensive forward and named to the Western Conference first team All-Star roster.  His eight game winning goals in the regular season set a new franchise record.

Known for his countless hours of community service, Brookshaw volunteered at ever team charity event this season while attending two local Elementary Schools to assist during recess hours and help to coach both boys and girls basketball.

Graduating after his first semester with a 97 per-cent average, Brookshaw hopes to continue playing hockey at either the NCAA or CIS level with plans on studying either Business or Engineering.

Other OHA Award winners will be announced over the coming days. All 2015-2016 OHA Award Winners will receive their awards at the Hockey Hall of Fame on Friday, June 3rd.
