CAMBRIDGE, ON - The Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) is pleased to announce the 2015-2016 Honor Roll Inductee Award Winner as selected by the OHA Referees Executive Committee.

The Honor Roll Inductee Award is in recognition of a former OHA On-Ice Official who has excelled at the Amateur, International or Professional levels of hockey, and shown a dedication and commitment off the ice for the betterment of the OHA Officiating Program.

This year’s recipient is Craig Spada, from Fort Erie, Ontario.

Beginning his career at the amateur level, Spada quickly rose up the ranks to become one of the OHA’s top referees.

Becoming a Hockey Canada Level 6 Official, Spada was recruited by both the American Hockey League (AHL) and the National Hockey league (NHL) in 2001. Over his officiating career, Spada managed to referee 247 NHL games, two Memorial Cup Finals, two Calder Cup Finals, two Buckland Cup Finals, one Dudley Hewitt Cup Final and three Sutherland Cup Finals. He was the Officiating Manager for the 2014 Dudley Hewitt Cup.

Going full Circle, Spada is now regarded as one of the top Officiating Managers in the OHA, where his primary objective is to develop younger officials in the association.

All 2015-2016 OHA Award Winners will receive their awards at the Hockey Hall of Fame on Friday June 3, 2016.
